I know Ted has reported each incident as it was reported in the past .. for discussion und warning purpose.

Be careful on this stretch. Once upon a time the M61 was classed as "safest in UK" No incidents. I think this may have caused fools to walk on this stretch :furious: Of course .. Mad Doc got slated by the "not as skilled as they complacently think they are .. on PH when he reported some of these on there. You only need to archive to find that annie/Bingo/von are clueless in reality  as they defended these fools who chose to j-walk across a motorway in a drunken stupor. I have asked questions und even stopped with my sister-in-law over the A572 bridge to look at this stretch of the M61 objectively und to see how you might stray.

Well . the fact you you have to clamber over a fairly high fence would suggest to me a deliberate gesture of stupidity to be very blunt und direct here. There was no accidental straying here.

A £30 fine ist inadequate. These idiots destroy their own lives. They take the lives of those who loved them in life with them. They also annihilate the lives of the drivers und their families who collide with them . at a legal speed on a legal motorway where they would not expect to see someone staggering across the road in an aware but still inebriated state. If copped j-walking und deliberately placing selves und others in danger - then penalty should be increased here .. if it ist to deter these fools.

By the way - family in this area are part of this DON'T WALK IT :nono: campaign as are the parents of ALL the deceased to date for which I must   und ackowledge on this site .. their stoic COURAGE.

The latest Highways Agency crusade for common sense is urging pedestrians of all ages to stay safe this summer and keep off the region’s motorway network.

Highways Agency contractors have also been checking and shoring up fencing at parts of the motorway network considered vulnerable to pedestrian “intrusions” — including by children.

Matt Sweeting, the Highways Agency’s regional performance manager, said: “We work very hard through our own staff and with other agencies throughout the year to get the safety message across but, as well as safety awareness, we are out all the time checking and improving physical measures to prevent people getting on to the motorway network.”

Children straying on to the network risk getting a visit from the police at home while any adults spotted wandering along the motorway can receive a £30 on-the-spot fine.

Other “hotspot” roads named are: the M61 near Chorley, the M6 at junction 31 and 31a east of Preston and junctions two and three of the M602 in Salford.
