How about a copycat campaign to highlight the flawed message?

Thanks Gatsobait

DIY: regarding your thought about a counter campaign maybe computer based viral?

The Speed advert that 40mph kills has what sounds like a girl of approximately 7 yrs old.

How many pedestrian girls in this age group are killed

1. Each year and
2. By a vehicle >30mph speed.

What Facts do we have access to?

FACT In 2003 10 Child pedestrians killed in 5 to 7 age range

Does anyone know how many were girls?

We do know that 1/3 of Child pedestrian accidents are girls.

So it could be only 3 girls of that age.

And how many of those killed by a vehicle at >30mph?

Could there have been none at all?

my thoughts - their pictures with key real road safety messages and the slogan at the bottom.

e.g. innatention kills 10 x as many as speeding.
Look at the road not your speedo.

After 10 years of failure - isn't it time we asked the government to THINK!

I think your fact sheet idea and this can be combined - I'm assuming you didn't get anywhere with this?

I wont promise anything, because the next 3 month are my busy time work wise, but I'll try to find time to have a go.

It seems that the DfT have given up saying speed is a factor in 1/3rd of all accidents to Driving too fast is the major contributor to accidents in the UK.

Any ideas on the best way to tackle this myth. Do we flag it to them that thier own data says this is bollox or do we go head to head with the alternative truth?
