The last few A41 accidents have been, an old guy having an heart attack and plowing into a lorry, killing his passenger wife and a guy crossing the road from his stopped caravan in the early hours of the morning, being hit by a passing motorist...speed cameras would have saved these people no doubt.
The A41 is a very good clear fast ex trunk road which although it has a lot of lorries on it is in my mind a lot safer than the A49 which is always having accidents but the A49 isn't straight enough for people to really exceed the speed limits so will not get cameras, unlike the A41 which is clear enough and safe enough to have cameras and make money.
_________________ My views do not represent Safespeed but those of a driver who has driven for 39 yrs, in all conditions, at all times of the day & night on every type of road and covered well over a million miles, so knows a bit about what makes for safety on the road, what is really dangerous and needs to be observed when driving and quite frankly, the speedo is way down on my list of things to observe to negotiate Britain's roads safely, but I don't expect some fool who sits behind a desk all day to appreciate that.
