Delegates will consider the next steps in the implementation of the Department for Transport’s programme of policy to maintain and improve the operation of the UK’s strategic road network. Planned sessions focus on the progress being made in taking forward the recommendations of the Highways Agency Review, the key issues at stake in the consultation that the Secretary of State is to open up on motorway speed limits and the plans to introduce legislation to bring HGV road user charging into effect. Further discussion will focus on the environmental impact, and the associated financial and practical challenges, that the introduction of further CO2 regulation would have on road-based transport.
