Speed enforcement week to begin

The Police Service of Northern Ireland is supporting a week-long European enforcement operation against speeding that begins on Monday.

Police officers will use a number of speed detection methods across all types of roads during the week.

Tispol, an organisation established by the traffic police forces of Europe to improve road safety, is co-ordinating the initiative.

Last year's operation saw more than 554,000 detections in 25 countries.

"We urge all drivers to challenge their own attitude to speeding," Tispol president Koen Ricour said.

"Anyone who still believes that speeding is a trivial offence needs to think again.

"All across Europe this week, police officers will be ensuring that drivers respect the different speed limits.

"In cases where drivers choose to ignore these limits, officers will take appropriate steps to enforce the law."

It will provide the same same truths found world wide in the end! :(

Cameras do NOT make the roads safer.
They DO however :
distract drivers from the task of safe driving
distract the Police from former excellent Roads Policing Standards
distract local authorities from road safety initiatives based on sound engineering
distract us (Nationally) from the real causes of road dangers.

And they too will make errors and mistakes that will take the public into court and see people lose their jobs and livelihoods along with the ongoing consequences ....
