A debate about proposals to lower speed limits to 20mph in Belfast City Centre. Open criticism of cyclists can be heard between time references 10.40 and 11.14.

Personally, I think if such limits are imposed, cyclists won't be a problem when compared to "time is money" taxi drivers who tailgate and flash their lights at me because I'm sticking to a 30mph speed limit.

Solution to problem taxi drivers is to take note of time/place/road and then get taxi plate on rear of cab. If it's firm ,ask them to remind driver that council licence dept might not like this. If no firm ,pass it back as a complaint to taxi licence place.

There are many problems with 20mph. Just to start with it is not the 85th %ile speed. The slow speed helps create a false sense of security for peds and helps drivers enter the zombie-like state as inattention increases.
