This story from the BBC today

In a nutshell, 39 people were killed in 2002 as a result of colliding with roadsigns. So the HA are introducing new ones with collapsible feet that cause the sign to fall over if struck. They're called Safe Signposts, ironically enough.
So what happens when it gets windy then?

This is just one small excellent example of the ongoing background improvements in road safety engineering that are happening all the time.

So why are road deaths going up? (As if we didn't know...)

From what I remember at least one has been killed hitting a camera post. Compared to the number in existance this must make them many times more deadly than sign posts...Someone should do the stats.

Thought never crossed my mind......

So I guess they will have to remain a hazard to road users.. :x

I touch of irony there I think.

No, I think they are steely. Hurts just as much though... :)
