I dispair sometimes - the ACC cannot grasp the fact that 2 instructors for every driver is worse that 3 instructors for every driver that most forces have.

Or is she just pleased that when training they have cut down from 1 driver, 3 passengers to a more modest 2 passengers?

Police will not disclose how fast the cars were travelling, as this would indicate the speed necessary to trigger the cameras.

Cobblers! Disclosing the speeds their officers were pinged at indicates just that another motorist would also have been pinged at that speed. No more, no less. Only the minimum trigger speed is worth knowing, and you wouldn't necessarily be able to work that out. Could it be that the speeds that some of the officers were pinged at would be a bit embarrassing given the recent 159mph copper story? Silly really, 'cos if they've decided not to discipline the coppers concerned presumably they're satisfied the vehicle was being used for police purposes, in which case no speeding offence would have been committed, right? It would just look bad in the press at the moment, which strikes me as a more likely reason to avoid publishing their speeds.

Has she perhaps got that the wrong way round and meant "drivers to instructors"? Surely no police force has got more instructors than drivers.

The ACC could mean in the vehicle - we quite often run with two instructors and one pupil on driver training - therefore a ratio of 2:1.

(My bold) This is the key - I've posted elsewhere that it's not uncommon to speed without running blues on the way to a call - often to avoid other drivers panicking, or at night on clear dual carriageways it avoids blinding drivers on the opposite carriageway. It's not always a case of lights good, no lights bad.

Ah, you hear that? Sound's like a penny dropping :stupidme: . I should have worked it out from rewolf's post. Duh.

Sounds reasonable. Presumably there are times when you need to speed to get there, but flashing blue lights could be seen from a way off and alert someone in time for them to run off?
