Think I'll get me one.

Quote:
Breaking the speed limit or using inappropriate speed for the driving conditions is a factor in 40 per cent of all fatal road crashes

Where did this statistic come from.... :x They must be making this stuff up as they go along. Maybe they mean by "a factor" that one of the cars must have been physicaly moving at the time of the acccident. :P

Notice how inappropriate speed and exceeding the legal limit are lumped in together. They're still at it.

Twatsport2000 have it as a news item. Anything that gets them rattled gets my vote.

I think they are trying to motivate the "activists"

Just been on GMTV this morning. The AA did a good selling job, just caught some barking mad woman ranting on about it, not sure where she was from, missed that bit. Typical "shouting down" type though, blah blah blah, yadder yadder yadder.

Saw it mentioned on the Beeb Breakfast News about an hour ago. Reporter near a Gatso site somewhere Basingstoke way with matey from the Hants SCP and a woman from Roadpeace. Didn't catch most of what the SCP bloke was saying apart from that thei website already publishes the information anyway. The Roadpeace Helen Lovejoy character was predicatably anti the whole idea of people knowing where the cameras are and got all finger waggy about it. Seemed to escape her notice that an Origin B2 etc does pretty much the same thing but more efficiently, and that the locations are, as the SCP bloke said, alll already in the public domain.

  Sorry mate. I think what I wrote may have been a bit misleading. I doubt her name really is Helen Lovejoy, except by amazing coincidence. Helen is a character on The Simpsons - she's the preacher's wife who always says "Won't somebody think of the children" whenever something bad happens in Springfield.

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q= ... 22&spell=1

I have a habit of sarcastically referring to some people and groups as Helen Lovejoys for campaigning too much (IMO) on emotional grounds. Perhaps I should have described has as a Helen Lovejoy type.

Looking on the web (only 4 sites come up with her name) she is Chairman/woman/whatever.

So its the breaking of the law rather than the aversions of accidents that riles her? Thats what she should have been asked. Thats if you're actually akllowed to question them.

To be honest I can't really see why people are kicking up so much fuss over this. It's not exactly difficult to do a search for a website which shows camera locations and have yet to hear big complaints about that (unless i really have missed something).

I think she was whinging that it makes finding the cameras too easy. Cheaper than GPS system, saves looking up the SCP website. <shrugs> But I'm with madroaduser, it's not exactly rocket science to find out now, so I think it was more an excuse to get 2 mins on telly complaining about speeding drivers.
