Per the "Bolton paper - on page two - the paper names tow who died in this crash. Apparently it occurred at the East Lance junction at Atherliegh Way just before midnight. One of the men had to be cut from the wreckage of his van and the 72 year old driver of the Ford car dies at the scene. Poloice are appealing for witnesses - (0161- 856 7273)

However, this is the junction which is governed by a RED LIGHT camera and I reported on this site that I had driven past here last year and commented that the lights in question were way too fast on the change red/amber - green and green-amber red - so given the ages .. 72 years and local :scratchchin: and 23 years and from Scotland and thus not used to that sequence? :scratchchin:

It does make one wonder about how this occurred on a dual carriageway at a red light right -hand T- junction
