Greater Manchester is the only force in the country which makes a LOSS from its speed cameras.
But Mr Todd says: “I believe speed cameras alienate the people we should be looking after.
“We only use cameras in areas where there is a risk of people being injured or killed, not to collect revenue. In return, we have retained the goodwill of the public. That has been vital for us in dealing with the top priority of arresting criminals.”
Blimey....

Hmm, that would be why they put cameras on high-quality dual-carriageways that have suffered unjustifiable speed limit reductions from 70 to 50, or from 40 to 30, then?
And allow Tameside to use non type-approved Watchman cameras painted in camouflage colours (which can't do you, but can scare the shit out of you).
Yes, Greater Manchester isn't Staffordshire or Lancashire when it comes to cameras, but there's still plenty of cameras, and plenty of abuse of cameras.
