propaganda, "spin" and blatant untruths, I could think of some others....

HOW much longer are we to be subject to the West Yorkshire Casualty Reduction scheme's campaign of propaganda, "spin" and blatant untruths?
The latest example can be found in "Cameras nab fewer speeders" (Examiner January 20) about speed cameras. It was stated that "speed cameras were introduced in 2002 to cut road deaths" Wrong! A quick glance through the Examiner archives tells us that in Kirklees alone there were over 40 cameras in situ in 2001. Traffic engineer Tracey Brewer will also be particularly upset as she received an award for setting up speed cameras in February 2001 - at the beginning of the year that casualties were at a ten year high! So much for cameras reducing road deaths!
Perhaps you will give Mr Thornton, chairman of the Partnership the opportunity to correct the statement that there were no speed cameras in 2001 and tell us when they were actually introduced. Also some extra information please. How many speed cameras were there in 1998, when there were 106 fatalities on the roads of West Yorkshire and how many cameras were there in 2001 when there were 144 fatalities? I won't hold my breath as the answers may not suit the WYCRP justification for speed cameras, and ultimately their jobs.
