WYCRP has been buoyed by the recent success and now plans to install more cameras. Already one of the most speed camera rich counties in the UK, West Yorkshire is now set for nearly 30 new cameras as part of a £3.2 million scheme, which will see six new fixed and 23 mobile camera sites operational by the end of next March.

Newly released figures show that speed cameras do save lives, WYCRP argues. During the five years before the cameras were installed, an average of five people were killed on the stretch of road and 30 seriously injured. Now, with almost five cameras for every mile of roadway, just two people have been killed in the past two years and 13 seriously injured.

What about the figures before the 5 year reference period? (how much of this was down to RTTM?)

What other safety measures did they apply to that stretch of road?

So, in the 5 years before, 5 people were killed and 30 injured, averaging 1 death per year.

In the 2 years since, 2 people are killed and 13 injured, averaging 1 per year.

Huh?

30 injuries in 5 years = six injuries a year
13 injuries inn two years = 6.5 injuries a years

Things have got worse?????????? Or do they mean 5 a year for 5 years and 30 injured a year for 5 years??????

I had assumed the latter, the reason being that the former was just too silly to contemplate
