New speed cameras 'a bluff'
SPEED cameras that can clearly photograph a driver's face have been installed on one of Britain's busiest roads.
Transport for London hopes to clamp down on car owners who avoid penalty points by claiming they were not driving at the time.
But a Government watchdog warned last October such cameras - which have been set up in central London - could be illegal, making the photos inadmissible in court.
Drivers' group Safe Speed called them "a bluff" to force motorists to plead guilty. Legal experts branded them "covert surveillance".
