I'm on sometime fairly soon after 7am (perhaps 7:15am) talking about Cumbria cameras, soon after Kevin Tea ('communications manager' at CSCP).

I'll try and rebroadcast it live on Safe Speed Radio.

will there be any chance of a re-run a bit later? (The odds of their being much coherent activity in chez Thornley at 7.15am are approaching zero. )

Is this the debate they've so far backed sheepishly away from, or just a news item?

I expect I can arrange something.

It's a news item.

Just had a listen on "Safespeed radio". Good stuff from Paul, and a reasonably balanced approach from the presenter.

Listening to the dulcet tones of Mr Tea, it seems fairly evident that the bottom of the barrel is being scraped in terms of justifications for their scheme. Two years down the track and no longer are they even attempting to claim any illusory road safety benefit, now they are reduced to justifying them on the basis of their popularity, evidenced solely by the results of a deliberately skewed survey of an unrepresentatively small sample.

Incidentally, does anyone know what the "weighting" was that KT was on
about, with respect to their survey results?

I wonder if we could get the Westmorland Gazette or someone to do an independent survey with unbiased questions...
