I contributed to a 30 minute programme about speed limits and speed cameras several weeks ago.

It's due for broadcast at (I think) 7:30pm on Thursday 22nd December. I can't remember the title of the programme.

They mentioned that it would be broadcast in the 'wider' Meridian area - whatever that means.

It's called FOCUS and it is on 7.30 Thursday in the Meridian and Channel ITV regions only.

Blurb:

At a time when speed cameras are being discredited by some, the Focus team goes overseas to discover extraordinary new equipment that could soon replace them on the roads of the south. Presented by Debbie Thrower.

Meridian has several sub-regions - Southampton, Newbury and Maidstone (I think) and it probably means they will be shown across all of them.

Just watched it: pretty good stuff.

Idris Francis got the last word: "When speed cameras are finished, we should see a huge improvement in road safety as drivers are once again allowed to watch the road ahead instead of their dashboards."

I agree, a good ballanced program. paul was allowed to explain Reggression to the mean.
He also came over well when they were talking about automatc speed limitation. Paul made a good point about the driver not becoming a passenger.
The whole program was good and informative. apparently they are testing cats eye cameras in kent linked to ANPR.
( I wonder if a data protection request from someone in kent would generate a mile of paper?did they ask us if we could be spied on?)

The big news on the program was that Idris Francis will be going to Europe to chalange the right to not self incriminate on thier NIP form in January. The whole sand castle could crumble.
Debbie Thrower was the presenter. this program was 100 times better than that trevor mcdonnald S*** that was put out last month.

Not much from Paul unfortunately, but they used his very clear explanation of RTM, I doubt anybody watching the programme would have failed to understand it.

The video from the "cats eye camera" was pretty impressive, I'm not sure what the low light and poor weather performance is but what they showed was amazing.

Idris got quite a bit of air time - all the locations were East Meon and the A32 - pretty familiar to me!
