Over the past year we have heard that hundreds of cameras were going to be scrapped because they were ineffective. London were quoting big numbers. Then there was Coventry on the A45 but is this actually happening?

Maybe I was just dreaming...

POLICE and transport chiefs in London have signal led the end for up to 140 speed cameras.
Amid public anger over the number of motorists being fined, scores of cameras in the capital could be replaced with speed indicator signs, which tell drivers how fast they are going and to slow down

I have seen one gatso in Leeds removed, not sure if it was officially removed though because the post is still there.

Either way it hasn't gone back up (or hadn't last time I passed).
