Has anyone else had a problem like this?

A couple of days ago, I left work from our private drive to turn right into the major road. Done it literally thousands of times before.

About 50 yards on my left is a gatso, to catch the rear of drivers coming from my left. The roiad was fairly busy, and I was looking for a decent ish gap on the left, having decided that, in 2 seconds' time, I would have approx 5 - 6 seconds clearance on the right. Next thing I know the poxy gatso flashes. It was perhaps four seconds before I regained enough retina desaturation to trust myself to reassess the situation. I missed the gap I was hoping to take needless to say.

I guess this could have been worse had I already been committed to pulling out and not then been able to judge properly the amount of right lock to not have a head-on and nor mount the opposite pavement.

At Ings, the cameras are in the MIDDLE of the road, on the central median.
If an oncoming vehicle triggers the flash, it temporarily blinds you, as it is on the drivers side as you approach.
Several people have mentioned this - and one posted in the CSCP thread - I believe he posted as Basil.

The owner of the hotel adjacent says they have disturbed visitors in the room overlooking the camera site!

I posted about this, a while back. My wife and I were passing a Shatso camera (on foot) and it flashed. It temporarily blinded me for several seconds but as my wife has an eye condition that means her eyes react slowly to changes in light, it virtually blinded her for 30 minutes or so and gave her spots before her eyes for the best part of two hours and a severe headache.

If a safety camera (sic) were to cause an oncoming driver to crash, would not the Safety Partnership be jointly and severally responsible for any resultant legal actions? Including charges of corporate manslaughter?
