I thought this might be interesting for some - it's US based, but the advice seems sound, and informative.
It's in the form of a PowerPoint Presentation, so is easy to follow.

The site says it is the US Army Combat Readiness Centre, but is full of various safety regimes.

If their safety regimes are anything like their missile targeting, then I think I'll give it a miss

There is nothing wrong with their missiles, and nothing wrong with their safety advice - it's just when they go to use them that the plan comes unstuck!

I was going to use a smiley there, but it seems inappropriate somehow
However, DO take a look at the advice they give.

opposite of UK motorway recomendations ?

ice: look out for local conditions: bridges (i.e. exposed), shade = more likely to ice up.

black ice: likely to form first under bridges/intersections, shady spots.. and intersections(??)

I took this to mean "clover leaf" intersections - which are commonplace in some areas! :)
