I was in an ambulance being taken to Lancaster Hospital from Kendal, and there was one between the leisure centre and Romney Road bridge on 23 January - That's the only one I have seen in ages!

The nurse acted as a lookout warning the driver! The language was of a medical nature, and cast aspersions at the parentage of the Talivan operator!

I think they're much less common in North West Cumbria too now. I haven't seen one for a goodly while. Still, it's hardly surprising, they reached their target so early, they can afford to sit back for a while! (especially as they haven't really made any difference one way or the other)!

From work - lad at work got done (he reckons in Cumbria ) by white van on bridge -but only van I have ever seen in the past year on M6(and I think they'd have seen me  ) was sort of chocolate brown (most appropriate colour ,Mrs B was heard to say :o ) with a white camera symbol .
So what colour are Cumbria vans ?

Current ones are yellow with camera signs on to break up the silhouette - bit like "dazzle paint" on old warships!

Not in the context you want to (but it is a hilarious phrase and a new one on me!)

I thought that was "literary cuisine!"
From what I have read, Lancashire are top biscuit removal operatives in those stakes, and even Carlsburg would be beaten into second place if Carlsburg ran a money making scam!

Some body has this covered already... I am lead to believe there is a substantial reward available to the first driver to clock a talivan for any motoring offence, from a certain organisation charged with bringing REAL safety measures to our roads!

I videoed a DSCP van being driven over a footpath quite a while ago. Due to the "mobile phone quality" you can see that quite well but you can't see that the guy actually dented the side of the van too. I'm sure I have the video online somewhere, but I don't remember where... :)

Seen 2 in the last week:

The Hill near Millom

and

Barrow Island

probably 4 sightings in the last month, one was in north Cumbria

Maybe an upturn in enforcement?

The one at the Hill was in a wide stretch of road which has only been made 30mph for a couple of years. very easy to drift over 30mph whilst being observant and safe. Usual story on placement. The deaths that have occured in that area (if I remember correctly) have been on the stretch of road between The Green and The Hill, not in the hamlet itself.

Maybe they are not totally at fault here. I know of a couple of Parish Councillors (different Parishes) who constantly pressure the Police to change speed limits or enforce them. In both cases there has never been an injury on the respective stretches of road. The said Councillors just live on them!!

On 8th August I saw another of our yellow perils on a bridge near J37 of the M6. Of course there's nothing unusual in that except that it was a bridge that wasn't on the original list. This suggests they're trying to catch those who have SatNav's with databases of known sites, of which this bridge isn't (1st bridge south of Killington Services). Clearly must be short of money as it's a very straight stretch of motorway

I think they're getting more aggressive again. Saw one at 5.10pm in Ulverston (usual place near cemetary) and they're certainly locating the vans for money making. Although seen on A66, they are not at a place where accidents have happened but on the verge at Flusko where there aren't any junctions.

They were at Ings westbound yesterday morning - I put up a cardboard sign at Reston, but traffic was slow anyway!

Don't forget then - you'd have to include CSSP and others as technical advisers ( woops - can see another undersea complaint coming on )

On a bridge over the M6 Southbound on Saturday morning about 5 miles South of Penrith - first I've seen for a while.
