Ahh. The unanswered questions - the instant bans on users for trivial reasons... it's all coming back to me! :cloud9:

Most of all, I remember Callaghan banning Paul for allegedly starting a thread advertising this site - when in fact all he had done was given the heads up on some consultation, for which a short deadline was in place, and placed a link to a page on this site where interested parties could download a response form.

Yes, Callaghan was bending the truth even back then! :sub:

What about the posters there who have not been seen since.... Horse, DW190, DeltaX.... I could go on :hehe:

Steve claimed that anyone wanting to see the pictures of their offence need only contact him and ask...

I am very surprised that you have been refused the photographs as it is my policy to provide them immediately upon request.
We will also allow you to view the video evidence that contains the measurement of your vehicle speed, you just need to make an appointment and I will personally arrange this for you.

However in an email response to a victim wishing to see the pictures of their offence, he replied with this email...

Do you think Callaghan speaks with forked tongue? He must have forgotten his email, as he told the defendant outside court, the same story he told Ken on PH!
No wonder he would rather not use his real name on forums!

Now I find using Linkedinhttp://www.linkedin.com/pub/steve-callaghan/4/829/b46, that he has a successful business in Kendal - possibly why he claimed he did not need the money as Cumbria's SCP Czar!

Steve Callaghan's LinkedIn profile wrote:
Director Plane Sailing UK Ltd

(Privately Held; 1-10 employees; Retail industry)

April 2002 — Present (8 years 5 months)

Joint founder and owner of retail company specialising in retail travel.
Founded company with co-director building it up from foundation to an annual turnover in excess of £1M. Currently appointed as company secretary.

In fact only the Company secretary remains - there are no other directors listed for this company.
Companies don't usually run without directors - so there is more to this than meets the (Linkedin) eye!

Apparently that bit needs updating in Linkedin... a bit like his membership of the Engineering Council, and all those unanswered questions on the old CSCP forum.
Strangely, a further search brought up this, which while seemingly more up to date, has no mention of his former glory as the Company Secretary of Plane Sailing UK Ltd:

Actually it is wrong to gloat - now he is an ex-company secretary of a successful travel company that has gone bust, how is he going to find work without a presence on Linkedin????

:violin: :ahoymate:

You don't suppose the Navy would have him back do you? :sub:

Does anyone know how a company with a £1 million turnover can go into receivership?
Bad management, bad payers, or cash flow problems? :scratchchin:

Several local coach companies have been experiencing difficulties - and a couple have gone to the wall - and I was surprised that even their turnover barely amounted to a million pounds!

I cannot see driving people to the airport ever drumming up £1 million in any one year - given the amount of competition from the likes of Airport Services and local taxis... even with todays fuel prices.

After studying Airport Services business model, I rather think that the claim of a £1 million turnover is actually a LIE, hence the Linkedin profile being removed before the matter got more serious!

Who'd have thought it eh?

Well Ernest, all of these are correct. The usual problem is insufficient capital base for the sales turnover. This leads to cashflow problems and it's lack of cash that gets you in the end. A lot of people try to run businesses undercapitalised with large borrowings. This is fine until you get a downturn and you can't service the debt. You need to manage your downside risks to minimise the likelihood of insolvency.

A few clues as to turnover. Debtors are typically about 15% of turnover these days and most UK small businesses have efficiencies of £100K sales per employee.

To be fair, Airport Services have had their difficulties....
Image

When I reported these incidents on the old CSCP forum, Callaghan's response was "Only you seem to see them!" so I started to document them on camera to show that accidents WERE happening despite the cameras just down the road at Ings!

£1 million turnover???

In his dreams! :fastasleep: :lostatsea: It's just another LIE!

Well those wonderful guys at Companies House have come up trumps!

Callaghan's company PLANE SAILING went under without ever getting anywhere NEAR a million pounds of turnover - unless they were Lebanese pounds or something!

Plane Sailing (UK) went into liquidation in 2009 with debts in excess of £50,000

There is also a CCJ against the company and Mr Callaghan for £7,440 at Chester County Court in the very same year.

You may recall that in his LINKEDIN profile (now defunct like his company) he claimed to have built this company up from scratch to a turn over of in excess of £1 million!
Steve Callaghan's Linkedin Profile wrote:

So what is the REALITY that Mr Callaghan has trouble recalling...?
Well the figures for the first four years are:

.................................2003................2004..................2005..............2006

Turnover..................£54,501............£72,081............£71,488..........£68,473

Profit/Loss..............-£13,703 ..........+£14,265..........-£17,526.........-£24,599

Loss Cumulative.......-£13,703............-£757..............-£18,283.........-£42,882

Total turnover = £266,543
I think you can see where this is going.... guess if the company made £733,458 turnover in the final three years!
(sorry but spacing further figures is a pain!)

This might possibly be a picture of Steve Callaghan.

I hope the moderators will not mind me repeating an earlier assertion I made, which was forcibly removed after he appealed to the Forum hosting company in the USA.
I can supply you with the same company records should you require it.

Steve Callaghan, you are a LIAR and a CHARLATAN, and you were arrogant/stupid enough to think you would get away with it, and would not be found out! :o

Well thanks to company records and a modest sum, your duplicity can be exposed.

How is your membership of the Engineering Council coming along? Sorted out that little problem with the subs yet? :sublurking: :)

Oh, and can I ask if the moderators have a "tail between the legs" smiley, as I rather expect that nobody will be along to pick holes in the figures! :tumbleweed:

So now we all KNOW what we always suspected, what conclusions can be drawn of Steve Callaghan's character? Would YOU buy a used car from him? :scratchchin:

Hmm... thought so!

You don't think he used that same profile description when he applied for the job at Cumbria Safety Camera Partnership do you?

Would I be right in thinking that this Mr Callaghan is the same one that is associated with RSS and appears in courts giving evidence under oath against defendants who claim that some speed measuring equipment may give defective data?

I resisted the temptation to say Plane Sailing sunk without trace, as clearly there ARE some traces at Companies House.

NOTE: he said an ANNUAL turnover in excess of £1 million - if you are going to lie, might as well make it a big one!

Maths and figures, never was his strong point though, was it?

I was unable to link to this earlier... from 2005, in a discussion forum on the BBC, after the Inside Out program on the LTI 20/20
http://web.archive.org/web/20051223083205/http://www.bbc.co.uk/london/content/articles/2005/09/07/insideout_speedgun_feature.shtml

Come on Ernest, you must really try harder than that, you know very well I don't have any interest whatsoever in keeping my job. I have told you time and time again I don't have to work at all so how would I have any interest whatsoever in attempting to keep up a revenue stream to keep me in a job. I have 2 pensions paying already and business interests that top those up. You really are clutching at straws with that very very tired old charge borrowed off someone elses forum. My starting wage was less than a third of my previous salary and is nowhere near half almost 3 years after I started so why would I bother?

Oh dear, by 2005 the writing was already on the wall with Plane Sailing... a loss of £18,283 in 2005 :(
Yet Steve Callaghan persists in over egging his financial well being!

Let us hope that his job as an RSS hired gun is more profitable, and secure - it seems like he needs the money - no doubt the plaintiff who obtained the CCJ did too!

BBC Report wrote:
Law Commission expert evidence proposals outlined
Proposals to prevent people being wrongly convicted or acquitted on the basis of flawed expert evidence have been outlined by the Law Commission.

It says judges in England and Wales should be able to exclude evidence from experts such as scientists and doctors.
Evidence would fail a reliability test if an opinion was based on "flawed data", "unjustifiable assumptions" or techniques were not "properly applied".

Contentious expert evidence has led to high-profile miscarriages of justice.

In 1998, Mark Dallagher was found guilty of murder on the basis of expert evidence that he had left a unique ear print on a window pane at the crime scene.
After almost seven years in prison, Mr Dallagher was freed when DNA tests showed the ear-print was not his.

The Commission said the case demonstrates why courts should have a statutory power to prevent juries hearing unreliable expert evidence.

And the evidence of the paediatrician Professor Sir Roy Meadow was used in the Angela Cannings prosecution, which involved sudden infant death.

Overturned convictions
Mrs Cannings was found guilty of smothering her seven-week-old son in 1991 and her 18-week-old son eight years later.
These convictions were later overturned.
The judges who released her ruled that no-one should be prosecuted solely on the basis of medical opinion which was disputed between experts.

Sir Roy was later found guilty of serious professional misconduct and struck off the medical register, but was reinstated after an appeal which overturned the GMC's verdicts.
The paediatrician also gave evidence in the case of Donna Anthony who was freed on appeal in 2005 after being imprisoned for life eight years earlier for killing her 11-month-old daughter and four-month-old son.

Her case was one of the 28 referred to the Criminal Cases Review Commission after Mrs Cannings was released.

If this becomes part of the court process, then RSS will have to consider whether the calibre of it's expert witness measures up to their expectations.

When an RSS expert (Ian Duncan) is prepared to inform the court that a traffic order does not exist when it does, and after he is informed of this oversight, is still prepared to stick to his version without checking, one has to ask whether he is either simply incompetent, or corrupt!
