The site has been restored - but the November figures still are not available!
However, if you go to the main WELCOME page, click on the "NEW FoI Act Publication Scheme" link, it takes you to a page - at the bottom of which is another link
"Cumbria Safety Cameras Freedom of Information Act Publication Scheme" which takes you to
THIS page.
Quite why they felt it necessary to bury this page so that casual visitors who had no interest in FoI requests would never see it is beyond me!
In it, the partnership (ignoring the efforts of the Air Ambulance Service, the Paramedics, and improvements in in car safety systems) claim:
Quote:
With the ending of DfT control in 2007, Cumbria Safety Cameras introduced Random Road Watch, a route-based, operate-anywhere strategy which increased the number of sites monitored by the mobile cameras to more than 200. As a result of this killed or serious injury casualties were substantially reduced and the county came in under the Government’s 2010 target three years early and in line with a predicted 35% drop in fatalities.
I wonder if they predicted the present bounce and INCREASE in fatal casualties?
