...is a stupid policy in the long run.

Sticking your head in the sand like an ostrich just makes you an obvious target... and you won't see it coming!

You also do not see it comming when searching for the "Golden Rivett"

If any one does not understand ask an ex navy person

You are more likely to find dolphins than golden rivets!

Why is it that everyone is jumping to conclusions about this thread? :scratchchin:

I thought that in the search for safer roads, while putting all your eggs in the camera basket, that it was obvious that the pro-camera lobby were sticking their heads in the sand and making themselves a target, and yet people seem to have presumed that there was another purpose!

Recently a council bin wagon operative was banned, and handed a suspended sentence for knocking down and killing a woman pedestrian in Grasmere - no illegal speed involved there then.
Then on Thursday, a council operated re-cycling wagon was involved in a collision with one of the operatives, and she has unfortunately died.

Now using the same deduction of the speed camera supporters - i.e. speed is a factor in severity of injuries, then clearly being anywhere near a council waste disposal vehicle in Cumbria is likely to lead to death?
They are not exactly fast - but should we make them go slower to reduce the death toll?

Ignoring all other options is not 'an option' really.

Presumption and the total assumption that all problems will be resolved through a set speed and it's rigid enforcement shows how ignorant is understood about how to travel safely and responsibly, as well as a total lack of any comprehension (or interest) in understanding how to make a road safe.

They do seem to hold on for dear life in the hope that they will still be proven right about cameras, but they are very sadly and tragically wrong.
