Sorry, Observer. I accept what you say. I was wrong, and I agree
with you that the distinction which you have pointed out, between
a
privilege and
an entitlement, is important.
But nevertheless it is regrettable that at present there doesn't seem to be
either :
* any sort of official support for those drivers who decide for themselves to
give up driving since, for one reason or another, their driving ability is
no longer up to standard.
* any sort of procedure that encourages 'at risk' drivers to consider
and decide for themselves whether or not to give up driving, perhaps
just for a short while.
