i have two q's...

does the 14 day rule of nip to company's in regards to company cars apply?

ie if the company is not contacted within 14 days does that make the nip void?

also doe sthe 14 days mean when u are actually sent the letter or does it mean the date on which the letter is headed?

i recently received or the company io drive for received a nip demanding the id of the driver for a speeding offence... the thing is that the a406 west bound at the point i was supposedly caught speeding doesnt have a camera..the speed cam is on the other side of the road across four lanes of traffic.... any suggestions on how to fight this as my job depends on it...

i will really appreciate any help given..

thanks

The NIP must be sent to the registered keeper so as to arrive within 14 days of the alleged offence.

Registered Keeper means whoever is named on the V5 document, and the date of posting must clearly be previous to the 14 day, to allow a day for first class post to arrive.

If the date of postmark satisfies the above, but the letter didn't actually arrive until it was too late then this can be a possible defence but it is not quite so clear cut. If the postmark / date of issue is 14 days after or later then that's pretty much watertight. The only real get-out for them is if the documents were at Swansea at the time of the alleged offence having the RK details / address changed.

If I where you I’d nip over to PePiPoo fill in their NIP wizard and post your questions there. You'll get some good free advice from them.
