Hello there,

On the 5th of Feb this year I was caught speeding, and I was informed that it was too serious to be delt with via the fixed penalty scheme. I signed and returned the NIP within a couple of days of recieving it. Since then I have heard nothing.

I have seen the evidence via my local force's website, I emailed them asking them about how long it usually takes and I was told 6-8 weeks.

As far as I'm aware, the courts have 6 months to "gather" evidence. Is this correct? I still have not recieved my summons to court.

Any information will be greatly recieved, and if you need to know anymore I will be happy to help.

I just want to know where I stand.

That is correct, they will probably leave it until the last minute before you receive anything, so don’t build up your hopes. I’m sure there will be others here who will comment.

Yer, as far as I can work out the police have 6 months to lay the papers infront of the courts. Its not 6 months from the date of the offence to the summons arriving.
