You're quite right. There's no point with some people. It's just a shame that in this case "some people" are deciding where our money goes when they clearly don't have a clue.

More and more I get the impression that council elections are about choosing the least bad option, rather than the best. I can't remember anyone telling me about a positive experience with any tier of local government. It could (and should) be so different. Maybe the system needs to be changed to attract the right kind of people to office.

As a council workerI could not agree more, maybe councellors should be interviewed and have a degree and expierience for thier positions like many of the workforce.

They woldn't get elected and would have to resort to working for thier relatives

I never...there were no points involved in my case. Was supposed to be a 28-day ban, but got away with 14.
Just make sure you let them know your sorry.

ah I see..so what ur saying is that they had already decided on the ban before you got to court? Everyone seems to talk about the points thing..personally I'd prefer the ban and fine..

The guidelines are provided to give the bench an indication of the sentence the government thinks appropriate for an average offence of its kind with no aggravating or mitigating features.

If there are aggravating features the sentence will go up.
If there are mitigating features the sentence will go down.

Depends on whether or not you're an MP, JP or PC...
