Unbelievable!!! Was flashed by a gatso last night 7pm on A48 Eastbound Cardiff. Went past the camera and through the roadmarked lines at 30, no flash. Moved to inside lane to sidle past another car on outside lane. Camera went off whilst I was travelling over a second much further away set of lines with no camera nearby. I was probably getting on for 35+ by then.

There was a third car passing on opposite side which may have set the camera off.

Went back to look this morning. First standard set of lines about 50m long starting at the camera, then a 40m gap then another set of lines. So was flashed at about 100m distance. Do the gatsos have super zooms or v. high definition that can allow the data analyist to scam drivers accellerating away from a camera zone?

Another point: if they didn't put the clocks back on the camera by last night and I received an NIP with a time that was 1 hour too late would I get off??

If I do get a NIP I will be fighting it and will post progress here.

I have never heard of a Gatso taking pictures at that distance, I'm sure they are only set up to take photos in the area of the white lines directly in front of them.

It is also possible that a vehicle traveling above the trigger speed in the opposite direction can set them off.

I would not worry too much but keep an eye on the post for the next two weeks, if you don't hear anything by then you should be in the clear, if you do get anything in the post put the details up here, or www.pepipoo.com .

Cheers

Paul

No NIP this time very thankfully  Watch out though anyone on that stretch of the dual A48 going into Cardiff from Culverhouse Cross. 3 Eastbound (Citybound) Gatsos, 1 westbound and occasional mobile scammers await you. Lights on :30: terminal sign still not fixed yet, although I didn't think I could rely on that to get off.

Correct - this has happened to me before by accident (no FP/NIP btw), and also occasionally on purpose when riding my motorbike.

I came down the A4232 between Culverhouse and Cardiff last night. There are temporary speed signs showing a posted limit of 50. I wasn't entirely sure where I was going, so was considerably below that (I think about 40) as I came past a Gatso. I was shocked to be flashed - I was the only car on the carriageway at the time, but I KNOW I wasn't speeding.

I came back round for another look to make sure I hadn't misread the speed-signs (that feeling of self-doubt...), and they definitely say 50 - and I got flashed again as I went past. On the carriageway in the opposite direction, I saw another 2 vehicles being flashed, neither of them looked like they were going particularly fast.

Anyone else come across this - should I be fearing the worst? I will challenge if a NIP arrives.
