Just to put my mind at rest.......
Does anyone know??
Have the specs cameras gone now on the northbound section j31- j32
I was going up that way last night and my tom tom was going off but I couldn't see any. It was for the roadworks but they have finished northbound now as there were no road signs or cones but the gantry sign a bit further down was saying 'slow down to 50, new road layout.' ???
I was doing about 50 - 54 until I saw the gantry sign.
What's the threshold?
10% + 2 mph??

Coming back on the south bound there were cameras and signs.
Thanks in advance.

JB.

Usually yes; sometimes higher, sometimes (but not often) 1-2 mph lower.

If that was indicated by the GPs then you were flying close to the sun; if instead it was the vehicle's speedo then you should be OK because those usually (but not always) over-read by a few mph at that kind of speed.

Were there actually any speed limit signs (i.e. a black "50" in a red circle)? If not, the legal speed limit was NSL (assuming that's what it normally is there). Anything the gantry sign said would have been advisory.

IME they do tend to take SPECS out before they remove the last of the roadworks. This is probably less to do with being fair than with the SPECS being needed to "save lives" elsewhere (statistically they actually cost lives of course, but little things like that don't bother the useless and defunct DfT when there are motorists to persecute).

I do wonder whether transport (road transport at least) would actually have been better off without the "services" of the DfT over the last few years. The list of good things that they've done comes to little more than the widening of a couple of motorways (and all they've really "done" there is spend our money, and far too little of it). The list of bad things would take me all night, but is well documented on this forum, PH and the ABD site. They're grossly incompetent and misguided and, as the man himself said, not fit for purpose. It must have taken quite a lot of effort to have made things like road safety and journey times worse by as much as they have. They've got to be possibly the worst department of the current rabble (saying a lot I know), and they must be mighty relieved that the whole sorry farce doesn't get more coverage.

Such people rarely admit their prejudices openly; instead, they make false or exaggerated claims about the adverse effects of road transport in order to justify calls for higher taxation or restrictions on mobility." I use that part of the M1 regularly (tavelling day and night) and have seen no cameras if that helps?
