Going back to my youth, I had a freind called Mick who rode and insured a nice bike. He asked to borrow my escort worth nothing for an afternoon. He was an honest person. I leant it to him. It came back. I never saw his licence , insurance. I knew which building he lived in, but not the front door. A few years ago he died, I went to his funeral. I still dont know his surname.
The difference is Anton, you say he was a friend so you obviously saw him about on a regular basis.
The OP is claiming that he drove to a bar on his own, chatted up a woman he had never seen before or had even arranged to meet, had a few beers (while she obviously drank bugger all), and then gave her the keys to his car without knowing anything about her other than her christian name.
Now I've gone out a few times and met women, chatted them up, taken them home, done the business, and said goodbye in the morning without knowing their full name....so that part I can believe.
What I don't believe for a minute is that this woman went to a bar on her own, spent the night chatting to the OP who was slowly getting pi$$ed, didn't have an alcoholic drink herself, and then kindly offered to drive him home and empty his nutsack for him.
I also don't believe for one minute that anybody (no matter how pi$$ed they are) would give their car keys to a complete stranger who they don't know from Adam.
If the OP was "sensible" enough in drink to realise that he was over the limit (as he claims), then he would have called a taxi to take him & and companion home for the night (although if I knew I was going on the pi$$ these days, I'd take a taxi to the pub in the first place).
