I have just received a NIP with my name spelled wrong, if I accept the fine & points and send it back with my licence will they be able to put the points on my licence?

There is what's known as the slip rule which basically allows them to make small typographical errors without rendering things invalid. My guess is yes they will. however, for best advice pop over to http://www.pepipoo.com and check it out on there.
