I am about to go to court for totting up, all SP30s, the final one is 72mph whilst overtaking in a 60 (the others are all just over the limit on dual carriageways at 10.30pm, 1am and 2.45am respectively).

The offence happened on 02 Aug last year, I have received the summons today (24 Feb). Part of the reason for a gap was a dispute about the driver - but part of it is a lack of responsiveness from the police

I understand there is a 6 month time limit on the time between offence adn summons - could somebody please clarify the position on this. The papaers sent by the police ot the Court are undated (i.e. there is a date field for them to use but they have left it blank).

From what I've learnt from PePiPoo:

Any information has to be laid with the court within 6 months - the summons usually follows within a couple of weeks but can, legally, be at any time up to three (or two?) years after the offence.

There is a section at the top of the summons that says "date information laid" and below that "name of informant". The latter will be the Police Officer serving the paperwork on the court, the former is the date that you need to check.
