I've just posted the results of a nice victory in court in the main forum, but meanwhile...

Back in February, I got snapped on the M4 doing 89; in due course, the NIP arrived, and I wrote them back a nice letter asking me for the photographic evidence, which - after a substantial delay - appeared, about 4 or 5 of them.

So, after leaving things as long as I dared (3 weeks or so), I then completed the form that had come with the NIP, sent it off and went on my way rejoicing *cough*.

A couple of weeks later, what should appear on my doormat, but...another set of the photos! Looks like someone has got their knickers in a bit of a twist in the paperwork department.

Having thought about it, my inclination is to let things ride for now: if they can't keep their paperwork in order, I'm not sure that I can see any point in helping them do their job. I'm presuming that what will probably happen is that they'll whack me with a summons at some point, alleging that I haven't provided details of the driver, and at that point, perhaps I'm best coughing to the speeding offence (it's pretty obviously me driving in the photo!).

But has anyone else experienced this kind of incompetence in dealing with the SCP? What do they normally end up doing when they cock the situation up like this?

Were you doing 89 mph on the motorway?

Have you ever driven at 89mph on a UK motorway?

So why are you trying to get out of it? Are you one of the people who complains about British justice going down the pan?

I don't quite understand what you're banging on about. Why do you keep asking these oblique questions?

For the record, I cannot recall making any complaints about British justice going down the pan, no.

As it happens - and I think that this is where your insinuations are wrong - I was quite happy to admit to the allegation that I had been seen doing 89mph down the M4: indeed, I went as far as to send back the S172 form to say this. I had my reasons for doing this speed, but I'm big and grownup enough to recognise that, in matters such as speeding, there is no justification that will be satisfactory, so I haven't bothered exercising it.

It is, purely and simply, the sheer incompetence of the safety camera partnership that has let the situation get to this point - they appear to have done something quite strange in response to receiving the S172 form (which I presume is what triggered them sending a second lot of photos), instead of seizing their chance and putting a CoFP in the post, which would have resulted in them netting another £60, and me netting another 3 points.

You won't hear me complaining.

The situation now is that, presuming they didn't manage to lay an information in court before 24th August, the speeding allegation has timed out. They then have around 28 days after that to lay an information in court regarding any allegation that I have failed to satisfy my S172 obligations, and if they do, that's an allegation I will be more than happy to answer to in court.

So I suggest that you practice your reading comprehension a little better, and stop trying to manufacture some kind of strawman argument on my behalf that I'm trying to excuse my original offence, and/or complain about the quality of British justice, presumably so that you can then shoot me down in flames with your razor-sharp mind and irrefutable logic, hm? I'm not doing either of those things, so you don't need to do anything, either.

Have a Horlicks and get over it.

Why not go back to your earlier posts dating before your dramatic 'enlightenment' and apply your previous logic to answer this question?

What is it with this one? He seems to have a bit of an axe to grind, but I'm not quite sure why he's grinding it up against me :?

The individual in question appears to have miraculously lost the 'member' badge in the last hour, now demoted to a mere 'user' status.

Mpaton2004 declined the opportunity to renew his membership which expired on 1st September.
