Just received a NIP from a scamera partnership.

I do recall the incident and remember thinking at the time that it must be impressive technology if it could actually get a reading from their vantage point!!

Alleged offence was on a dual carriageway with a 50mph limit. Road is uphill and straight - the only thing I couldn't see for miles was the scamera van hidden below the level of the barrier on the opposite carriageway. He must have got me through a break in the barrier or using overhead mirrors!!

Nevertheless I now have NIP for 79 in a 50. On average I drive 25-30k miles a year so any form of ban (or even insurance hike) is likely to cripple me completely. What can I do or what am I likely to get?

Any ideas or assistance would be gratefully received.

Your best bet is to have a word with the folks over at PePiPoo, they have plenty of experience and expertise in these things as I understand it.

PACE statements seem to be flavour of the month at the moment, and are apparently quite legal. I would caution against following any advice, however, that involves 'evading' a charge you seemingly acknowledge, since perverting the course of justice or perjury carry much stiffer penalties than speeding!

Good luck!

i have spent a while on my travels stopping at these vans, having a chat and a good nose at the operating procedures, you can discount the use of overhead mirrors straight away, they are not allowed to shoot across the barrier and keep the money unless the road has cross over points,

26mph + over the limit is usually a court hearing so the rules of shooting across the barrier don't count i am afraid
