Interesting piece Apparently tucking in on the straights on a descent - but sitting up for corners -as this means you use your body as a "wind break to slow down whilst you evaluate the corner and plan your speed Just like being in a car really.. if you "ride the brakes" - you cause brakes and tyres to overheat..


What causes crashes? Supriosingly the samee mistakes as drivers make ....

insufficient awareness of position relative to the road going too fast into the corner..

Looking down instead of looking up to where you are going..

CW also rightly mentions that crashes occur if the position on the bike is not neutral. if you are not holding your line... as in starting at one radius and then changing the apex trimming across to the other side. I mention no names Oi MM! - you did this on the epic! He crashed though the " heathland" on a bend - and cut the bend out completely but we'd been on that descent for about 20 miles or so - was steep and he'd pumped the brakes a bit too much. I reckon his rims got too heated.
