At last! Police are urged to get tough on cycling law breakers! :D

Ooooh! Hark.. I can hear fingers drumming already
people with a chip on shoulder and on pedalo somewhere on the internet wrote:
Them lot over on that site.. "at it again .. sob .. no one luvs us!"

Nope - tis the law! And I'm only posting up what appears in the Folkestone newspaper which I picked up when I came off the Tunnel yesterday. (Was giving a lecture on my specialism to a seminar in Paris last week. A nice littly "jolly" for me really! 8-) ) Besides, am addicted to local papers

Anyway per the little paragraph on page 5 of the Folkestone Herald

Police officers in Folkestone will be urged to charge cyclists for riding on pavements.

Folkestone Town council backed Cheriton member Peter gane's plans to lobby Kent police chiefs to stop and arrest  :o :) cyclists on pavements.

Cllr Gane said young children should be allowed to cycle off the road but he and other residents were tired of dodging bicycles ridden by adults who claim they want to be recognised as traffic.

The town council clerk has written to Kent police following last Thursday's council meeting

Wow!

I bet I'll get some lovely plaudits and plugs on a cycling site somewhere. Hey - I'm just typing what it says!

But guy has a point. If we cyclists want to be viewed as traffic with same rights as traffic - then we ride on the road and do so legally and applying the same COAST principles as we do and all of us should when we drive our cars.

There's zero reason to ride a bike on a pavement after all. Besides - it's illegal  and where a driver and cyclist alike can drift marginally above a speed limit without discerning immediately - you sure as heck know if you are on a pavement just as much as you know a driver has parked deliberately on double yellows.

If you want to get to heaven - you have to raise a little hell!

Smilies are contagious
They are just like the flu
We use our smilies on YOU today
Now Good Causes are smiling too!

It makes folk wonder just what you REALLY got up to last night!

Smily to penny.. penny to pound
safespeed prospers-smiles all round! !

But the real message? SMILE.. GO ON ! DO IT! and the world will smile with you!
Enjoy life! You only have the one bite at it.
