Oh boy!
guys/gals and lurks! This story .. words fail me.
Today's Manchester -p 2nd edition headlined the case of the cyclist in "M56 Madness"
A 36 year old cyclist was stopped by GMP's finest in the early hours of 7 Nov. He'd been on a "night out with his mates"
He took
a wr-wrong t-turning and ended up on the M56 m-m-
motorway
He pleaded guilty to "being in charge of a bicycle whilst drunk"
He was seen riding "all over all three lanes of the M56 motorway at almost 2 am on Nov 7.. "\
The court heard that the accused (in hi-viz yellows" did not have any control of his bicycle. When stopped - he was

unsteady on his feet and slurring his words.
He asked GMP's finest for a lift home. They gave him a lift to their cells instead
The cyclist claimed he'd been drinking with pals .. but they did not have room for him on their floor .. so he hopped on his bike to go home.
H e took a wrong turning and ended up on the M56
He was no bother to the police whilst in custody and his defence claimed they cyclist had been
Quote:
brain damaged after a fight with some yobs four years ago
The yobs were never caught...
He got a condtional 12 month discharge and no fine nor costs despite the fac the cycling on the bus M56 might have caused his and another's KSI
He is thus not banned from driving (but you can be if drunk in charges of a petrol lawn mower on a grass vderge outside your home..
)
If he commits an offence within next 12 months - he'll get hammered
The cyclist reckons he was lucky and

If I had not been in hi-viz- I;d have been slaughtered. I am lucky not to get a fine too.
Indeed. Lucky lad. Hang on..
high viz saving a life - even that of a tipsy bloke on a bike...
hmmmm! I think I like car and bike to look like a Christmas tree with a big star on the top after all
