Dates have just been published for this year's Tour of Britain. The route is reversed this year and lasts for 7 days.
Starts with a 2.5 km prololgue in Crystal Palace Park - S London and finishes in Glasgow this time.
There are 13 start/finish towns and 9 of these are new as the tour tries to tear itself from the congested cities which pose a problem for an international bike race of growing merit and importance in the calendar.
There is one new stage in Somerset - and the TOB have signed a 5 year deal to take the ToB to this area which is growing as a fave for cycling holiday makers.
The organisers have also resurrected the Multoi-Force Escort Team - which basically means up to 30 traffic officers will assist the civilan motorbike marshals along the routes taken by the riders.
All the towns which have signed up to host the stages have had to guarantee that no parked cars will mar the final 10 km sprints to the Finish Line.
There will be the Green Jersey competition

and a full audit from the CRed carbon reduction programme .. but

.... all those m-motor bikes

and cars ..

and support vans with spare wheels and frames in case of accident
There wiil for sure be a "carbon footprint".. nothing in this life is ethical - including human and animal carbon emissions - of which I fear the green muesli munchers produce the loudest farts
(I could not resist ..

- each time I see the words "carbon footprint"...

...just brings out the petulant child in me (by the way .. I gather from the riff raff that the French word for "to fart" is "péter"

... and does "petulant" derive from this word

)
