Claire just gave me an idea from another thread
viewtopic.php?f=38&t=8024&p=178210#p178210 (Hope you don't mind me using it for this Claire?)
I have a Specialzed Stumpjumper I am never going to use again from ~1991 ish. (£530 at the time)
It's rough, I won't deny, and obviously looks dated but if the bottom bracket was replaced it would be fine.
It's a bit clunky because of excessive play in the bottom bracket and as much as I keep tightening it, it comes loose again and makes the gears act funny. Quite ridable but irritating because of the bracket.
I tried sealed bearings yonks ago, from SKF, but my leg power at the time kept knocking them out riding over the hills. So apart from the cost of a new bracket it's a good runner. You could try replacing the ball bearings but I think the mating surface has worn a new groove.
You wil need to be gangly, it's a 21" frame from memory. So you'd need to be
at least 6' tall I would think. The top tube isn't very slopy, so mind your nads if you want to do downhilling
Black in colour with one or two small dinks but nothing which should make it fall in half. I was using it up until a few months ago before I bought my new one.
I could post a picture later perhaps if someone would like to see it in the flesh. I think ed_m said they are something of a collectors item in original condition.
I can't deliver, I don't have a car anymore, so you'd have to collect. I live in Birmingham. First come an' all that I'm affraid, sorry. Post here or PM ta
Cheers
