Per CW

On choosing a winter water proof jacket.

The articlce reminds us of the "obvious" such as choosing one which is tailored to fit and keep us dry and snug.

Plenty on the market which folk up neatly enough to fit into any small bag too.

You need a fabric which "breathes" and does not trap in "sweat" . and mesh liners

They alkso suggest choosing on with zip-off sleeves /admustable cuffs. They suggest choosing one with mesh lined pockets as pockets can let in moisture - making it bulky to fold away again.

But most impotantly they say this

Ensure it has a reflective trim - the more the merrier. Hiviz yellow is the obvious colour choice for being seen. It does tend to show the dirt more than other colours - better to be seen with an occasional grubby mark than not seen at all

 I agree!

Just cannot get to grips with this present day fashion for black cycling gear. Maybe it's a reaction against the multi-coloured stuff once worn. Putting a black top - you might as well be wearing a funeral suit. The logic defeats me.

 Aint that the truth. Gotta say though, there are some who wouldn't see me if I were in a ball of flames. Especially when they're yabbering on the mob :hoppingmad:

I wear, most often, a bright yellow motorcycle jacket and a white crash helmet on a yellow bike. Some would believe my name was David McCullum for all the notice other road users give me.

I agree. OK .. fine in bright sunshine .. but even then I'd prefer a colour which did not "absorb heat" as dark colours do.

I thus tend to dress in way which adresses my personal taste in clothing and still makes me SEEN by others ;) I would rather look a bit silly than be "trendy but dead" on a slab in a morgue.

But that's me and Wildy's view.. Heck .. all family think such thoughts

BLACK? I so hate seeing "another completely different colour = "New Black"

Excuse me stating the ruddy obvious here .. but

prime colours are prime colours.

light afffecting these colours affect these colours. Ask any professional photographer

Nothing "new" then. :rollL:

Some folk are stupid.

Choose out fit according to need. To hell with "fashion! ;)
