In view of all the dangerous modern road devices that are the bane of all cyclists, who will fight the cyclists corner? Kerbs that jump out at you forcing you into the path of vehicles, extra wide traffic islands that cause drivers to swerve into you impatient to get past, nasty humps and bumps, especially those bricks-on-end rumble strips, all without any consideration for the poor cyclist. Do they really want to encourage cycling? How can we get such incompetent road designers the sack?

The CTC http://www.ctc.org.uk is the main national lobby group and there are a lot of local bicycle user groups (BUGs) such as http://www.maccbug.org.uk/

The Warrington Cycle Campaign do their best to highlight dubious "cycling facilities".

It's a pity such campaigns are usually accompanied by anti-motorist rhetoric, when in reality both groups suffer equally from thoughtless council planning.
