So what is the position in the UK?
I already asked a week ago.

The law is a bit confused in terms of unicycle. The 1988 RTA legislation (careless, dangerous etc) defines cycle as having at least 2 wheels.
The 1861 offence of furious cycling would apply to unicycles, but injury would have to have been sustained by a third party.
The 1835 offence of wilfully riding on the footpath talks about "any carriage of any description" this was later clarified to mean "bicycles, tricycles, velocipedes and other similar machines." That would probably include unicycles.
Regarding lights, the Road Vehicle Lighting Regs stipulate that it is an offence for all vehicles not to have front and rear lights lit during hours of darkness.
It appears the answer is for the unicyclist to mount the lights on his person!
Now about the wisdom of having only one wheel in the snow....!
Apparently your cornering ability may suffer!
