OK - have had afternoon tea and a meal at the "Inn on the Lake" at Glenridding, Ullswater and the Mad Cats are especially fond of this place for restaurant visit. Apparently the Lakeland Pudding Society meet here and the Inn is doggy friendly too. :D

I like this place as a watering hole after a ride over Kirkstone Pass as do Ted and Wildy :neko:

Another personal fave of mine - the Finch's Arms at Rutland Water. This reservoir is apparently the largest in Europ and the late Barry Sheen input some of his own cash into its construction.. The pub is C17 and boast a spectacular view of the Reservoir and it's an easy peasy ride and walk too :)

For those who prefer the High Peak - Ladybower Inn over the Ladybower Reservoir in the Dark Peak. Combination of a decent walk, bike ride or drive. The sausage and mash served here really is "to "die" for" :D

Grasmere to Elterwater via Red Bank, in either direction.
Lunch or tea at either the Britannia Inn on the Elterwater side, and the Swan at Grasmere, (or any of the decent tearooms in Grasmere) at the other!

It's nice if a partner drives to meet you, but if not, Ambleside or Rydal (Pelter Bridge) is a good place to start.

Great views into either valley along the way, but a narrow road over Red Bank, so be wary.
