Is it just me?

I find "Hi Viz" and dramatically coloured bike/motorcycle clothing rather confusing and, as a consequence, counterproductive. (Bikes with headlights on during bright daylight are also confusing and difficult to see)

I would not be surprised if I am not the only one. after all "Dazzle Cammoflage" was used during WW2, (as was bright lighting to make aircraft "Invisible" in daylight).

Sorry, but there isn't a lot we can do about that.

Send a letter to Brussels and tell them about your concerns.

We aren't regarded as being responsible enough to be left in charge of an off switch any more.

The demo of aircraft invisibility that I remember seeing was dramatic!

The idea was to cover the plane with lots of small light bulbs. Switch them on and the plane vanished. It was as profound as that.

The idea is that planes (or motorcyclists!) are visible because they are typically darker than their background. Cover them with lights and you make them the same brigtness as the background the eye can no longer decern their outline and they vanish.

On a bright summers day a motorcyclist with headlights on looks like a bit of sky surrounded by a dark halo. Much harder to recognise as a motorcyclist than an unlit one.

Vision is actually very poor. (All *anyone* can see clearly is an area the size of a penny held at arms length! Most people dont realise this) The trick is in the processing. The brain will tend to ignore things it cannot identify.
