Very sad story in the Manchester paper.

Matthew was less than 30 yards from the school gates when he was struck by a lorry. His traumatised class mates were allowed to go home and the school has appointed counsellors to help their pupils get over the shock.

A 20 mph speed limit is in place around this schoo in Stockport. There are also speed humps

There is a 20 mph speed limit and additional traffic calming meaasures such as speed humps. This area is not considered to be a traffic danger spot

hmmmm!

It's a terrible tragedy - but I think an accident waiting to happen as the speed bumps are too high.

I think the resident who lives there 24/7 is probably right...

Police are appealing for anyone with information - so if anyone saw the incident between the cyclist and a 7 and half ton recovery vehicle at the junction of Neston Grove and Rotherene Road, Adswood at about 8.30 am on Tuesday 10 October - contact police on 0161 856 6176.

I am sure all thoughts and condolences on this site are with young Matthew's family
