So, there I am in L1 doing pretty much bang on 70mph it's about 4 or 5 pm on the Wednesday just gone. The weather is overcast, looking a bit grim and the streetlights are coming on.

Suddenly this guy dressed in all black runs out from behind a bridge support. I drop the anchors, pass this guy (who is almost in L2 now) and then floor it because I'm about to get rear ended.

I then dial 999 and inform the police that there is a pedestrian in all black clothes running across the M6 Toll road, currently in the central reservation, please can you send someone to pick him up before he causes an accident.

What I don't get is the emergency operator then asked "Is he black?" not "did you see his skin colour" or anything like that, just is the guy black. I honestly don't know what colour the guy was, but seriously why ask the question like that?

I despair of some of these questions. They should have taken your details and reassured you that they would send someone out to take this person to safety before his actions killed himself and others.

After all .. a 14 year old is in hospital after being hit late at night on a busy dual carriageway .. and exactly three years ago on Wednesday .. a 12 year old girl died playing chicken on the M61.

But to ask the colour of his skin? How silly. Makes no difference whether he is white, Eastern European, Oriental, Asian or from the planet Zod. Bloke is placing himself and others in serious danger and if these people are so "concerned with reducing carnage".. then reply should have been a sincere thanks for your citizenship and a promise to act immediately. :banghead:

"Is he black?" whilst badly worded, might have ment. "oh god he's at it again trying to kill him self."

I am glad you avoided him.
