Stopped at a zebra crossing the other day, a two-section one with island in the middle. Out of the windscreen I'm observing the LHS of the crossing and pavement, out of the drivers window I can see the RHS of the crossing and the pavement on the other side of the road, the island is obscured by the A-pillar. I wait for everyone to finish crossing then move off, only to be shocked to see a woman standing on the island about to cross in front of me. "Out of no-where".

I believe she must have cut-off the first section of zebra crossing and walked towards me at 45 degrees with the A-pillar obscuring her all the way.

I know the answer is the old "move the head and look round the pillar", it's just an example of when you think you have all bases covered people can still do unpredictable things. I've been driving vehicles with huge A-pillars for about 7 years now and it still catches me out.
