Tokyo, Apr 4, 2007, Aki Tsukioka wreiting for JCN reported that Honda will release the Goldwing Motorcycle with air bag on May 31. The Goldwing air bag is designed to relieve injury due to crashes.
The shock sensor installed in the front fork area can detect the reduced speed (and does not require an additional front disk cover setup). The sensor then sends the information to a control unit where it calculates whether inflation of the air bag is necessary. The whole process takes about 0.15 seconds. The air bag also includes an alarm light, informing riders in case of an abnormality in the air bag system.
The air bag type Goldwing Motorcycle comes in the color of pearl gray white and is priced at 3,465,000 yen.

Its been talked about for long enough now here is is.

Looks like the goldwing has finaly realised ist dream to be a 2 wheeled car...

I'm wondering how long it'll be until someone sues because the bag went off while they were riding along the road and got knocked off; or because when the bag went off in a crash, they received more serious injuries because they were catapulted straight up in the air.

Perhaps it might even mean that these riders feel more secure and safer, therefore they compensate by taking more risks.

I think we've seen that happen in other forms of transport.

I do hope that Honda have built and screened the control module plus the wiring & sensors to aerospace standards.

Stray RF or Radar impulses can upset car & bike ecu's, so an airbag going off because you drive close to an aerodrome for example would be very bad news.

A really stupid knee-jerk reaction to safety from a large manufacturer.

Please scrap this nonsense Honda, "More forwards please"

:x
