As some of you know, I'm prepping for my IAM test.

My observer left me a voicemail asking if I was OK for an early morning ride this Sunday. I phoned him back to confirm all was OK, and enquired what time, thinking it would be 9 or 10am...

Can we meet at 6.45am, he says! Which means I've got to get up on a Sunday morning about 5.45!

He said we'd be back in time for lunch...

Must have a warped sense of humour!

I suppose it will be too early for the Sunday drivers as well... So that's good, I suppose...

Anton is right though.

I had to do a spirited dash at that time on a Sunday once... The only obstacles were rabbits, a hedgehog - and a few taxis.

Don't forget the sleepyheads going home off night shift, possibly less alert than should be expected.

Well, I made it on time!

Covered the best part of 220 miles and at the end (after 5 rides in total now) my observer thinks I'm ready for the test and said he's going to arrange a check ride for me this Sunday (AFTERNOON - NOT morning) and if that's OK, put me in for my test!

I'm actually quite sad :( I really enjoy my ride-outs with my observer and I'll miss them :(

Cheers for the early-morning road-kill advice - there certainly was plenty! Pheasants yet to die were running all over the road!

What is it with pheasants? I nearly had one at the weekend. I banked left and right but he was acting like I was a ball and he was the goalkeeper. I can't think of another animal that does that.

I was doing about 50mph in a NSL country lane and he leapt in front of my motorbike from a hedge. I jammed the brakes on and when I was about ten foot from him decides to fly out of my way. I nearly head-butted the stupid thing instead.

I often wondered why you see them flat on the road and now I think I know why. Lemmings get a bad rap.

Look at the size of their heads.

Bird-brained aren't they? But tasty.

Well done BB. Its quite a nice feeling to pass another test years after you passed your first one isn't it?

Cheers guys :drink:

Conditions were a bit greasy, but still an enjoyable experience.

I'd recommend anyone considering it to do it...
