Hi guys, I've just finished reading 'Scared to Death' http://www.amazon.co.uk/Scared-Death-Gl ... 231&sr=1-1

which is where I heard of Safespeed. So hello all... :)

Transport for London are still dragging their heels on allowing motorbikes into bus lanes despite all the evidence shwoing it's safer all round - for cyclists, pedestrians and bikers... :x

Nothing seems to be stopping them...

I've not read scared to death, whats that abou then?

totally feel your pain on the bus lane thing, been in london for 8 years now(came from bristol were we're always welcome in bus lanes), and remember talking to a TFL rep back in 01 about it, he told me they were collecting data and should have an desicion in 1-2 years, god damn politions!!!

if you ask me its time we held a bike rally about it! not enough people get off there arse in this country to show the people in charge what we want. a think a couple of days of slow riding around around london holding up traffic in rush hour should get us noticed, what you think?

Now that we Boris in charge, hopefully he'll do as he pledged before elections to open up all the bus lanes to Motorcyclists...

I feel that at least all the bus lanes that are currently available for taxis should also be permitted to motorcycles.

Bus lanes I would remove or reduce are those just before traffic lights or junctions where traffic is forced to use the right hand lane then pull over for the junction (because the right hand lane is for turning right only), especially when the buses will often have to pull out the other way to turn right. An example of this would be Holborn heading west-bound towards the Gray's Inn Road junction.

Another bus lane I would get rid of is the one-way section of Caledonian Road leading up to the ring-road. Traffic wishing to head along Kings Cross Road or up Pentonville Road, i.e. turn left, should get easy access to their lane. Sometimes it is a challenge squeezing past that traffic because so much of it is changing lanes.
